Wheat Field With a Lark\u00a0<\/i>Vincent Van Gogh<\/b>\u00a0abandoned his earlier darker palette, replacing it with light colours and directional brushstrokes to depict the airiness of a wheat field swaying in a summer\u2019s breeze. In the last years of his life, he painted several landscapes featuring wheat fields, all of which evoke a range of emotions. In a letter to his brother he explained his inspiration: \u2018I am almost certain that these canvases illustrate what I cannot express in words, that is, how healthy and reassuring I find the countryside.\u2019 His love for the countryside can be seen in the quick and lyrical execution of each stroke that makes every flower and wheat sheaf come alive.
